President’s 2012 Year End Letter

Holiday Greetings from the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Foundation,

In so many ways, it was another fantastic year for both the Gardens and the Foundation. The Gardens expanded their programs and announced the 8.5 acre Richard and Helen DeVos Japanese Garden which created anticipation and excitement. The Foundation, which exists solely to ensure that this treasure will be able to be enjoyed now and in the future generations, provided over 25% of the Gardens operating expenses. This year the Foundation will expand the Perennial Society to include all those who have cumulative monetary gifts and/or pledges in estate plans of $10,000 or more. Also, the Foundation is pleased to announce it has established the new Bonsai Society for those who have given cumulative monetary gifts and/or estate pledges of $100,000 or more. We deeply appreciate those who have already invested in the Foundation to ensure that the Gardens will “grow and bloom forever” and that this wonderful place will be passed onto future generations. So as you reflect on your pleasure and joy from visiting the Gardens with family and friends, and if you have not already done so, please consider making a year-end gift to the Foundation.

Warm wishes for a peaceful, healthy and prosperous New Year,

John D. Bouwer
President, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Foundation
